Nicholas Tilghman of (1457) is described in early English records as being of "de Faversham, Kent County" and this is so noted in one of the Visitations of Kent. His death must have been circa 1591 for page 195 of Harleian Manuscript #25 noted that on "December 13, 1591 Margery Tilghman, daughter of Mr. Tilghman of Faversham, Kent, Gent., deceased, married Thomas Bromelye. No record has been found of his marriage but it is known that his children were Nicholas, Margery, and Thomas. (1458, Spes Alit Agricolam)

5. Richard Tilghman of (4) is described in the Visitation of Kent as "Richardus Tilghman de Fauersham." In History of County Kent, reference is made to the fact that the Tilghman family of Faversham Hundred and the Tilghman family of Snodland Parish, were one and the same family. This Richard Tilghman had sons William, Thomas, and Nicholas.

RICHARD TILLMAN of (6) is shown in the Visitation of Kent as living at Holloway Court, Snodland Parish during the time of King Henry, the Fourth. This would be 1399-1413. He was the father of Thomas and William. The magazine of the Maryland Historical Society for June 1905, said that this Richard Tilghman was living circa 1450 at Holloway Court and that the name of his wife was Dionysis. Some vague reference has also been found to Dionysis Holloway. The son William, who d. 1493, m. Margaret Saunders and settled in both Snodland Parish and Faverisham Parish. This William Tilghman recorded his arms and crest in 1468. This is from the Visitation of Kent of 1574 and also of 1619. The two visitations also stated that the descendants of this William's brother, Thomas, were as recorded. In his will this William Tilghman made mention of a Richard Tilghman then living at Maidsone and his son John then a student at Oxford. | Richard Tilghman

1468. ROGER TILGHMAN (of 1467), b. circa 1650 in Accomac County, Virginia. He left a family Bible, or journal, to his son Robert. Fragments of this have been retained by several descendant lines. M. 1st 1674 Winnefred Austin. Children: Robert born 1675. M. 2nd 1680 (Mrs.) Susannah Parram (or Parham) born 1648 and died 2 March 1717 and settled Prince George County, Virginia. Children: John born 1682, George 10 January 1683, Jane who married Nicholas Robinson, and Christine who married Robert Abernathy. Roger Tilghman located on 1,060 acres of land in Bristol Parish, Charles City County, Virginia, 20 April 1689, according to records of the land office at Richmond, Virginia. This patent was for the transportation of 22 persons into the Colony, and was in the form of headrights. The settlement was known as Fort Tillman, and was situated on the south side of the Appomattox River at Moneus-a-Nock (Monk's Neck), thence to Gravelly Run. This is know in Dinwiddie County, Virginia. On coming to Prince George County, Virginia, he changed the spelling of his name from Tilghman to Tillman. | Roger Tilghman

1457. THOMAS TILGHMAN of (1456) is shown in the book "History of Kent," as being the owner of Beechworth Castle, in Surrey County, England, which he subsequently sold to John Cassock of Faversahm. This history speaks of Thomas tilghman as being the younger member of the Snodland branch of the family which would indicate that he had brothers and sisters. The History of Kent says that the coat of arms of the Sussex County, England, family is identifcal to that of the Snodland family's arms. There was one identified difference. The Sussex branch contained the motto of "Spes Alit Agricolam" (Hope Goes or Flies with the Farmer) on their arms. After Thomas Tilghman sold Beechworth Castle he settled in Sussex County. No record has been found of his marriage. There is one note that he had a son Nicholas. If there were other children, no record of them has been found. | Thomas Tilghman

Christine Tilghman, daughter of Roger Tilghman and Susannah Parham. Roger Tilghman, born 1650 in Accomac County, VA, married Susannah in 1680. She was born in 1648 and died March 2, 1716/17 in Prince George County, VA. (This was Roger's second marriage). Roger was the son of Christopher Tilghman and Ruth Devonshire. 10. Dr. Richard Henry Tillman (See No. 9)
He was born in Granville County July 3, 1819 while his father was looking after the affairs of an old grandaunt, Sarah Lumpkins who was the daughter of George Tillman and wife Mary Goodrich of Brunswick County, Va. He studied medicine at the University of Pa. Philadelphia 1841. November 11, 1841 he married Narcissa Bennett, daughter of James Charles Bennett and Mary Ella Winifree of Anson Co. N.C. He died December 23, 1864, and is buried in Wadesboro, N.C. His widow moved with part of her family to Carroll Co. Mississippi in 1867 and died February 24, 1899 and is buried in Carrollton, Mississippi.

LEE, Eleanor Worthington
died in Santa Barbara on February 16, 1999. She was 94 years of age. She leaves her loving brother William Edward Worthington of Camarillo and his family.
She was the widow of Rowland V Lee, the veteran film director whom she married in 1924.
Born in New York, she and her family came to California in 1913. She lived in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Palm Desert before moving to Santa Barbara in 1989.
She was an interior designer of distinction and was admired for her exceptional taste and ability to avoid a "decorated Look".
The intimate friends who predeceased her had families who have stayed in touch. She cherished their friendships.
At her request, no services will be held. Private Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn, Glendale. For those wishing to make a memorial contribution, she hoped they would make it to the Hemophilic Foundation of Oregon, 5219 SW Westgate Dr, #126, Portland, Oregon 97221.
